CANADIAN OWNERSHIP & COMPLIANCE

Buying a Used Semi Truck in Canada — Evidence Workflow

Build a transaction file that identifies the seller, the truck, its configuration, its history and the jurisdictional steps still required.

Seller and ownership evidence

Confirm seller identity and authority to sell, original ownership/registration documents, lien-search direction for the applicable jurisdiction and a written record of material representations.

Truck identity

Reconcile the public VIN, certification labels, build sheet, engine data plate, transmission and axle tags. Photograph evidence before travel where possible.

Condition and history

Collect service invoices, ECM information where owner-authorized, inspection documents, repair/rebuild records, collision disclosures and import status. A passed inspection is not a title or condition guarantee.

Transaction plan

Document price, taxes/fees to verify, payment/release conditions, transport or temporary movement, insurance and the destination registration process without assuming one national rule.

Verify before acting
