Uses all annual kilometres, including unpaid travel. It is not a profitable freight rate.

Included costs and limits

Fuel = annual km ÷ 100 × L/100 km × CAD/L. Annual cash outlay adds maintenance and tyres, fixed costs, 12 truck payments and driver compensation. Use fixed costs for insurance, registration, permits and overhead; add DEF and other consumables to the maintenance/tyres allowance if they are not already included. Do not enter the same expense twice.

The $80,000 driver default is illustrative compensation including any employer costs you choose to allow; it is not a Canadian wage benchmark. Owner labour belongs in a sustainable plan even when no wage is drawn. Enter zero only to examine cash outlay excluding labour, and label that result accordingly.

Payments include principal and interest. Depreciation, resale proceeds, tax recovery, income tax, separate trailer costs and lost revenue from downtime are not automatically calculated. Add trailer and business costs to the appropriate entered allowance. This cash-flow estimate is different from economic ownership cost.

Defaults produce $100,320 fuel + $28,000 maintenance/tyres + $30,000 fixed + $21,600 payments + $80,000 labour = $259,920 annually, or $1.6245 per total kilometre. Without labour the scenario is $179,920, or $1.1245/km. These are editable examples.
