Identify the engine and the truck separately
Record the engine plate and vehicle identification before ordering parts or choosing service literature. The reviewed diesel cab-over sheets specify a 5.1-litre four-cylinder engine. Do not use this reference to describe a different suffix or a hybrid installation merely because its engine name starts with J05E.
Read the operating history
Delivery use can involve repeated starts, short trips and long periods stationary. Compare kilometres with engine hours and inspect maintenance invoices for consistent dates and identifiers. Ask for diagnostic findings, cooling-system service and evidence of previous repairs. General family information does not establish the condition of the installed engine.
Inspect with access beneath the cab
Have a qualified technician inspect leaks, hoses, wiring, mounts and service access using the correct cab-tilt procedure. Review emissions-campaign status by VIN and keep any completed-work documents with the truck. If the truck is a hybrid, add a specialist assessment of the electrical propulsion equipment rather than applying a diesel-only checklist.
