Match the model to the work.

Canadian Hino research spans cab-over delivery trucks, conventional work trucks and the heavier XL8. These body-builder chassis have their own reference branch. An L8, XL8 and legacy 358 are distinct identities.

A clear year behind each figure.

The spec collection uses 2027 Canadian L/XL brochures and selected 2020 legacy sheets. Published chassis dimensions describe the stated configuration. Body dimensions, finished weight and towing approval require the individual truck’s records.

Hino L6

Conventional · single rear axle

The Hino L6 is the starting point for Canadian L Series distribution and service work. Standard-height and low-profile configurations need separate attention when body height, dock access and brake equipment influence the purchase.

2027 Canadian reference

Hino L7

Conventional · single rear axle

The Hino L7 provides a higher-rated single-rear-axle platform for Canadian distribution and vocational bodies. Brake choice and the body’s weight distribution are central to evaluating the configuration.

2027 Canadian reference

Hino L8

Conventional · single rear axle

The Hino L8 sits at the heavier end of the Canadian L Series. It remains a single-rear-axle conventional truck, with a different chassis and driveline specification from the tandem-axle XL8.

2027 Canadian reference

Hino XL8

Conventional · tandem 6×4

The Canadian Hino XL8 is a tandem-axle Class 8 work-truck platform. Evaluate the installed body, chassis rating and Cummins L9 driveline together when considering it for heavier local or regional work.

Hino 155

Cab-over · standard cab

The Canadian 2020 Hino 155 is a compact diesel cab-over. Its short cab and lighter chassis make body length, load density and driver access more useful buying questions than comparisons with a full-size highway tractor.

2020 Canadian reference · legacy

Hino 195

Cab-over · standard cab

The diesel Hino 195 cab-over offers a higher-rated chassis than the 155 while retaining a compact cab layout. Separate the standard cab, crew cab and hybrid designations before choosing a used truck or replacement body.

Hino 195 Crew Cab

Cab-over · crew cab

The Hino 195 Crew Cab combines a cab-over chassis with rear seating for a work crew. The longer cab changes usable body space and weight distribution even when the wheelbase matches a standard-cab 195.

2020 258U reference · legacy

Hino 258

Conventional · low-profile reference

The Hino 258 is a legacy conventional work-truck family. The Canadian 2020 high-power 258U sheet provides a precise reference for a low-profile chassis; it should not be applied to every 258 or 258LP advertisement.

Legacy Canadian conventional

Hino 268

Conventional · verify chassis code

The Hino 268 belongs to the legacy Canadian conventional range. Its buying value depends on the exact year, engine specification, body and service history; current L Series specifications should not be assigned to it.

Legacy Canadian conventional

Hino 338

Conventional · verify brake configuration

The Hino 338 is a legacy Canadian work-truck model that warrants a build-specific inspection. Brake, suspension and body choices are essential distinctions when comparing used examples or researching a replacement chassis.

Legacy Canadian conventional

Hino 358

Conventional · body-builder chassis

The Hino 358 is part of the older Canadian conventional range. Research its frame, installed equipment and original build before comparing it with a 338, an L8 or a tandem-axle XL8.

Choose a cab-over, distribution or work-truck comparison, then verify the model era and intended body. For highway tractors, explore the semi-truck comparison hub.
